Orchestra Leadership Academy Seminars

	The Orchestra Leadership Academy is the most ambitious strategic initiative ever undertaken by the American Symphony Orchestra League. It does not pretend to promote solutions, models or stone tablets. Nor does it seek to be sole vendor of professional development for orchestras. In fact, we hope that other organizations will provide complementary programs within the range of their qualifications and expertise. Leadership is about transforming individual practice by stimulating reflection, provoking new insights, thinking through dilemmas, and finding paths to decisive action. Developing strong leadership requires high levels of real-time interactive modeling, simulation, problem solving and team-role play, with content carefully chosen by seminar designers and facilitators - and artfully sequenced. Leadership is also about stimulating leaders to make visionary and informed choices, day after day, working within environments that are full of multiple, contradictory priorities. Leadership development seminars can help build the courage to do this, and provide useful tools for turning courage into effective practice. (...more...)
