Providing quality care to persons with dementia is a shared goal for nursing facilities, home care and adult day services alike. As the need for dementia-specific services continues to grow, so do the challenges of developing staff who are well-informed, trained and motivated.

Customized services, including specialized classes, in-services, consultation, internships and mentoring are available as well as our core curricula. CORE CURRICULUM
Basic Care: Secrets of Successful Care Giving - Learn the secrets of success for helping persons with dementia take a bath, get dressed and go to the bathroom. Discuss changes in sexuality, sleeping patterns and communication. Meets requirements for Dementia Training - House Bill 603.

Person-Centered Care
Studies show that the most important aspect to nursing home residents is the
relationship they have with the people who take care of them. Rethinking our
philosophy to put the person first instead of the task is the focus of Person-Centered
Care. Examine inexpensive, simple techniques that make the workplace a nurturing,
compassionate and fun place to be. Investigate new assessment tools and care
plan techniques to ensure that the individual is the focus of care.

AD/DD: The Dual Challenge - Caring for persons with a dual diagnosis of Dementia and Development Disabilities requires specialized knowledge. This class offers an introduction to the best approaches to promote quality of life for the dually diagnosed.

Staff Development
Train the Trainer: Building Creative Caregivers - Want to jazz up your in-services? Tired of listening to yourself lecture? TTT is an award-winning curriculum that will not only give you the most recent, easy to follow and pertinent information on Dementia, but will also teach you how to put pizzazz into your training. TTT is for the employee who provides staff training within their facility/organization. Meets the requirements set forth in Dementia Training House Bill 603. Participants must have basic knowledge and experience in caring for persons with The and dementia.
Training manual included; lunch on your own.
Nursing and Nursing Home Administrator CEU's available for all
TTT programs. (Special registration is required)

Metro East Dementia Network - A quarterly assembly. Pre-registration is required.
A CE application and $10 processing fee must be submitted AFTER the program. Do not mail your check for CE hours prior to class. If CEU's are not requested, there is no charge.

In-services - the Association Education Institute (AAEI) can come to your facility or agency to offer in-services. In-services are $25/hour.
Criteria for in-services:
Room with chairs available for all participants.

1 hour minimum.
