To err is human. To really foul things up you need a computer.

Welcome

Welcome! I sincerely hope you will enjoy learning more about computers.

Are you new to computers?
For some of you, this course may be coming early in your involvement with computers. Rest assured that, although the amount of material we will cover may seem overwhelming at times, if you simply come to class and do the homework assignments at your own level, you will do well in the class.

I will do what I can to make clear what you should be sure to know. If you learn only the most important concepts, skills and information, you'll be very well off, and everything above that is pure gravy.

Still, you'll need to fasten your seatbelts and hold on to your hats - we'll be travelling fast.

Are you an old hand?
For others, you may have been using computers successfully for years. For you, my hope is that we enrich your understanding by giving you a framework for understanding computing history and ideas outside your normal involvement.

You'll still need to come to class and do the homework in order to do well in the class. If you're good at what you do, you're probably already aware that it is never a waste of time to review the basics - there is always something more to learn.

I will bring as much enrichment to the classes as we have time for, and if you use the CD version of the Concepts textbook, you'll find Internet links in each chapter that lead to great stuff.

Mark this page, and check back often.
This page will have messages from me, links to your syllabus and other homework assignments and links to other information as needed.

I'll let you know in class or by e-mail when there are changes, but here is where you can find updates to assignments and some of the supporting material you may need.

Make sure I have your e-mail address.
If I do not have an e-mail address for you, please send me a notice and I'll update your address in my records. Send the notice to marthaedwards@swbell.net.
